Joint Medical Store (JMS) is the leading oldest private not for profit pharmaceutical organization in Uganda. Established by the Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau and the Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau, JMS is mandated to supply medicines, medical equipment and related health care services of assured quality to the people of Uganda at affordable prices. JMS collaborates with key manufacturers and customers to ensure cost-effective solutions to bio medical equipment service problems. This has facilitated the provision of accurate diagnostics services in health facilities. Among the core services offered include installation, repair and maintenance of a variety of biomedical equipment. It is on this note, that JMS is recruiting a qualified and experienced Biomedical Equipment Technician to join its dedicated team.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To install of a variety of biomedical equipment at customer sites – health facilities, train users, carry out preventive maintenance and repair works in line with the JMS guidelines and procedures. Duties and Responsibilities

a) Conduct installation of biomedical equipment for health facilities b) Carry out maintenance and repair of customers’ medical equipment brought to the workshop. c) Participate in outreach visits to health facilities to install, test, commission medical equipment, carry out maintenance and repair works. d) Provide advisory services to customers about medical equipment standardisation, replacement planning, and safety procedures. e) Participate in delivering medical equipment management training programs for member health units. f) Participate in the development of specifications for medical equipment on the JMS standard list and advise customers on the appropriate equipment that match their needs. g) Ensure safe custody of workshop tools and equipment; plan for their replenishment. h) Provide technical advice and support to JMS with respect to operational equipment and other installations where applicable. i) Produce regular reports on workshop activities j) Supervise interns, graduate trainees, and assistants k) Maintain an inventory of workshop assets including tools and customer equipment

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s Degree Biomedical engineering or Diploma in Biomedical engineering Candidates with the following will have an added advantage; 1) Diploma in electro-mechanical, electronic engineering. 2) Specialized training in repair and maintenance of medical equipment Required experience 1) At least three year’s working experience in a similar position
