JOB TITLE: DIRECTOR OF FINANCE
Purpose of Job: • Lead the management of country programme finances, and take overall control of all financial aspects of WaterAid Uganda’s strategy, recommending and advising on growth avenues for the country programme. • Coordinate and manage financial policies ensuring efficient and effective provision of financial and systems and support
Principal Responsibilities: Financial and strategic management, grants management, compliance and control, staff management and development. The Director of Finance will: • Lead the financial forecasting process to produce relevant, accurate and timely financial forecasts across WaterAid. • Lead assessments of partners’ financial management ability and assist in building their capacity to develop internal financial systems. • Maintain oversight of the country programme grant management. • Develop, implement and maintain financial management procedures, risk assessments and control measures to manage, monitor and audit transactions across the country programme.
Education, experience and skills: • Qualification as a chartered/cost accountant • MBA with major in Finance will be an advantage • 12 years’ experience with six in a senior management position in the development sector. • Knowledge on accounting software, especially SUN systems, will be an added advantage. • Skills for planning, budgeting, follow-up progress, quick decision making and report writing.
